Gold under Buying pressureTechnical analysis: As expected, the #2,648.80 - #2,652.80 Support zone held and that gave Gold a strong boost back above both the #2,657.80 and #2,662.80 Resistance zone. Last few times Support zone practiced strong durability, Gold was on a strong uptrend on the aftermath. The Daily chart’s structure is now entirely green and the next Technical Target is the #2,672.80 local peak and Medium-term Resistance zone. This strength for Gold is maintained despite last week's correction on DX and the indecision on Bond Yields, showcasing that this is an both Technically and Fundamentally backed up Bullish stance for Gold. How to Trade Christmas and New Year Winter Holidays As the winter holidays are already around the corner, you should know exactly when to stop trading and close your trades, and when to resume. In this article, you will learn how Christmas and New Year holidays affect the financial markets and I will share with you my trading schedule. First, let's discuss how winter holidays influence the markets. Winter holidays lead to a dramatic reduction in trading volumes. Many traders and investors take vacations in that period. Major financial institutions, banks, hedge funds often operate with reduced staffing and early closes or are completely close for holidays. All these factors inevitably lead to the diminished trading activity. Look at the schedule of official banking holidays in many countries. Since Tuesday 24th, the banks are officially closed in Europe, UK, USA and so on. But why should you care? If you have free time, why can't you continue trading? Even if you trade technical analysis, you should admit the fact the fundamentals are the main driver for significant price movements. One of the major sources of high impact fundamentals is the economic news releases in the economic calendar. Look at the economic calendar. You can see that the last day of high impact news releases will be Friday, December 20th. After that, the calendar is completely empty. The absence of impactful fundamentals will inevitably make the markets stagnate, making trading very boring. Above is the EURUSD price chart with ATR technical indicator (the one that measure the market volatility). We see a clear drop in volatility during a winter holiday season. You can behold a similar pattern on Gold chart. With the big politicians taking vacations during the holidays season, we tend to see the local easing of geological tensions accompanied by a lack of significant foreign and domestic policy actions and announcements. That's the US congressional calendar. There are no sessions since December 23rd. But there is one more reason why you should not trade during winter holidays. The absence of big players on the market will decrease the overall trading volumes - the liquidity. Lower liquidity will unavoidably increase the bid/ask spreads. The widened spreads will make trading more costly, especially if you are scalping or day trading. And when should you resume trading? It always depends on how actively the markets wake up after holidays. The minimal starting day will be January 6th. I usually do not trade this week and just watch how the markets starts moving. I prefer to begin my trading year from Monday next week, the January 13th. Holidays seasons will be the best period for you to do the back testing and learning. Pick a trading strategy that you want to trade with in a new year and sacrifice your time to back test it on different instruments. In terms of Elliott wave theory , Gold completed the Double Three Correction waves as I expected , and I am also waiting for the Resistance zone($2,667-$2,653) to break with the break of the upper line of the descending channel . XAU/USD 14.12.2024OANDA:XAUUSD Hello traders, after we broke my last wave 4, I reinterpreted my chart view. Essentially, my second plan is now in effect. For now, we have a big (a)(b)(c) setup, within which we see a 12345 count. Currently, we are in waves 1 to 2. Wave 1 is structured as an abc correction, which itself follows an abc structure. Within the corrective wave b to c, we can also count a 12345 wave setup. Take profit for the sellers would align with the blue Fibonacci extension levels. The 100% extension (the first target) doesn't look very promising to me. It is near the 61% (orange) Fibonacci level but feels too far away. We might observe some bullish momentum there, but likely not enough. The 161% Fibonacci extension (blue), however, aligns almost exactly with the 78% Fibonacci level. If the price reaches this depth, we will likely see many traders closing their sell positions and others opening buy positions. This could generate enough momentum to create a new minor wave 1, which could then evolve into a 12345 setup for our (orange) wave (3). This is one potential scenario, but we need to observe what happens next week. If we see an impulsive move to the upside from another level, I will look for a new wave 1 and then search for higher highs. Wishing you the best of luck!

GOLD ROUTE MAP UPDATEHey Everyone, Piptastic day on the charts once again, with our chart idea playing out to perfection!!!! We were able to track and trade the entire move up from Monday confirmed with ema5 lock for each gap target. Yesterdays update finished off with ema5 cross and lock above 2679 opening 2697. - This target was completed perfectly today followed with further cross and lock above 2697 opening 2712, which was also hit today completing this chart idea. We can now move over to our 4H chart idea to continue to track the movement should it decide to push further up, until we share our new 1H chart idea on our Sunday update. We will continue to buy dips using our support levels taking 30 to 40 pips. As stated before each of our level structures give 20 to 40 pip bounces, which is enough for a nice entry and exit. If you back test the levels we shared every week for the past 24 months, you can see how effectively they were used to trade with or against short/mid term swings and trends. Monday trading PlanPrice has been dropping aggressively on Friday, creating a significant displacement to the downside. The area around 2680 is identified as a key supply zone where sellers might step in again. Bias is on the bearish side and I am expecting a retracement to 2680 (supply zone), followed by a continuation of the downtrend. A move up to 2680 will allow for liquidity to be swept, and then the price could reverse sharply. BUT things might go differently, this is my main scenario and plan. Next Steps: Look for longs as price will approach 2680 OR just wait patiently to see if it happens. Once at 2680 level watch for signs of reversal like a liquidity sweep, bearish market structure shift (MSS), and the FVG being respected. Target lower prices, ideally back to opening price around 2640 and ideally 2600 but that might only be later on today maybe during New York. This is MY main trade idea for today, I am waiting for the retracement and the drop. If price doesn't reach 2680 or shows signs of reversal earlier, I will adapt accordingly. Trade safe!

Lingrid | GOLD Short-term RETRACEMENT from PSYCHOLOGICAL LevelOANDA:XAUUSD has moved higher, breaking through the prolonged consolidation zone. The price has reached the key resistance zone ahead of the Core CPI release, testing the psychological level at 2700 and weekly high level. This level has previously acted as resistance, and I think that the market may drop from this level, forming a short-term pullback.
