Gold: Navigating a Range-Bound Phase After the DropGold (XAU/USD): Consolidation in a Bearish Territory Amid Uncertainty
The gold market has entered a consolidation phase, trading within a defined bearish range following a sharp sell-off on Wednesday. This pullback comes as the precious metal adjusts to a complex interplay of technical and fundamental factors, with current attention focused on the critical price levels of 2622 – 2581. A deeper look into the backdrop reveals that sentiment remains subdued due to broader market dynamics, and the technical setup underscores the vulnerability of gold prices as they test recent lows.
Fundamental Overview: Fed’s Conservative Stance and Market Implications
The Federal Reserve’s latest policy meeting on Wednesday had ripple effects across global markets. Adopting a more cautious stance, the Fed announced plans for just two rate cuts in 2025. This decision disappointed investors hoping for a more dovish approach and weighed heavily on risk-sensitive assets, including gold. Meanwhile, the dollar emerged as the clear beneficiary, strengthening to new local highs as traders flocked to safe-haven assets tied to U.S. monetary policy.
The dollar’s rally placed additional pressure on gold, which often moves inversely to the greenback. However, the broader implications extend beyond just this week. Gold's recent struggles highlight the ongoing challenge of balancing inflation expectations, geopolitical risks, and macroeconomic trends.
Looking ahead, today’s release of the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index—widely regarded as the Fed’s preferred measure of inflation—could introduce another layer of volatility. A surprise deviation from expectations in the PCE data, whether upward or downward, could significantly impact gold prices. Furthermore, any unexpected escalation in political uncertainty, whether domestic or international, has the potential to act as a short-term catalyst for the metal, possibly leading to a recovery attempt toward resistance levels.
Technical Analysis: Testing the Lows in a High-Volatility Environment
From a technical perspective, gold remains entrenched within a consolidation zone after the steep decline earlier this week. Such a pattern is not uncommon at this time of year, characterized by thin liquidity and heightened volatility as institutional players wind down for the calendar year. Price action suggests that the market is trading in a relatively wide range, bounded by key resistance levels at 2616 – 2622 and notable support levels at 2589, 2581, and 2560.
Currently, prices hover near the lower end of this range, testing the support levels repeatedly. If the support at 2581 holds, it may trigger a short-term recovery toward the upper boundary of the range. However, any failure to defend these levels could lead to a retest of deeper support at 2560, further cementing the bearish outlook.
Conversely, on the upside, resistance around 2616 – 2622 remains critical. A breakout above this zone may entice bullish momentum, but such a move is likely to be capped or short-lived, given the overarching fundamental headwinds. In fact, a retest of this resistance could result in a false breakout scenario, where prices temporarily breach the level before reversing sharply back into the range, targeting local lows.
Trading Strategy and Broader Market Context
For traders navigating the current environment, the focus should remain on the boundaries of the consolidation range. Range-bound strategies, such as buying near support and selling near resistance, could be effective in the short term. However, caution is warranted given the heightened sensitivity to macroeconomic events, including today’s PCE data release and potential geopolitical developments.
In the longer term, the bearish undertone suggests that gold may continue its descent unless a significant shift in fundamentals alters the market narrative. Any sustained rally would require a combination of favorable catalysts, such as a dovish pivot from the Fed, a weakening dollar, or heightened geopolitical tensions.
Conclusion
Gold’s journey through this consolidation phase is emblematic of the broader uncertainty gripping financial markets. While the precious metal has shown resilience in the past, the current setup underscores the challenges it faces in a bearish environment. Resistance at 2616 – 2622 and support at 2581 – 2560 serve as pivotal levels to monitor, with price action within this range offering opportunities for tactical trades.
In the grander scheme, the coming weeks will likely determine whether gold can break free from its consolidation or succumb to further selling pressure. As we approach the end of the year, reduced liquidity and heightened volatility will remain defining features of the market, setting the stage for potentially significant price swings in early 2024.

DXY (THE DOLLAR INDEX)1. If the Dollar Breaks Out Above Resistance
This scenario indicates bullish momentum, meaning the dollar could strengthen further.
Implications:
Continuation of Uptrend: Breaking resistance often signals strong buying interest or positive sentiment.
Next Target: The price may move toward the next resistance level or a new high.
Market Sentiment: This could result from strong economic data, higher interest rate expectations, or geopolitical factors favoring the dollar.
Traders’ Actions:
Enter long (buy) positions after confirming the breakout.
Set stop-loss orders just below the breakout level to manage risk.
---
2. If the Dollar Fails to Break Resistance
This scenario indicates a potential reversal or consolidation below the resistance level.
Implications:
Reversal to Downtrend: Failure to break resistance often signals profit-taking or bearish sentiment.
Support Retest: The price might fall to test lower support levels.
Market Sentiment: This could occur due to weak economic data, dovish central bank policies, or stronger foreign currencies.
Traders’ Actions:
Consider short (sell) positions if rejection at resistance is confirmed.
Monitor for bearish patterns (e.g., double top or bearish engulfing candles).
---
Confirmation is Key
Volume Analysis: A breakout with high volume is more reliable, while rejection with high selling volume confirms resistance.
Economic Data Events: Major announcements like interest rate decisions or employment data can influence the direction.

DXY Weekly - Dollar IndexSimple Trading - Wyckoff Event
If the event has started then the dollar index will have one heck of a year coming into Q1 and Q2.
Watch for volume change on the intraday day time frame and expect the trend to continue bullish.
Long story short the DXY is growing strong with the rise of BTC and Donald Trump being elected President.
Targets:
109.40 - previous support
111.50 - .616 Fibb level
113.80 - .50 Fibb level
Dollar Index (DXY): Clear Strength?!
Looks like Dollar Index is ready for more growth.
I see 2 strong bullish confirmations after a retest of a recently broken horizontal resistance:
the price violated a resistance line of a symmetrical triangle and a neckline of a horizontal range.
A strong bullish imbalance indicates a high momentum.
We can anticipate more growth.

Is DXY Heading Above Previous High?Hey Traders, in today's trading session we are monitoring DXY for a buying opportunity around 106.800 zone, DXY is trading in an uptrend and currently is in a correction phase in which it is approaching the trend at 106.800 support and resistance area.
Trade safe, Joe.
DXY Best level for a long-term short. The U.S. Dollar index (DXY) has been trading within a 1.5 year Channel Up pattern (since July 14 2023) and just 2 weeks ago it formed a Golden Cross on the 1D time-frame. Having hit the pattern's top a week earlier, the current rebound seems to technically be part of the Lower Highs/ Lower Lows top formation, similar to October 03 - November 01 2023 peak.
That was 1 year again, a peak formation that was also formed after a 1D Golden Cross. This indicates that the long-term pattern (Channel Up) is highly symmetrical and as the 1W RSI is also declining after a rejection on the 70.00 overbought barrier, we consider the current level the best possible short entry.
The Bearish Leg that followed the 2023 High extended as low as the 0.786 Fibonacci level. As a result, we expect to see at least 102.000 (just above the 0.786 Fib) before any signs of a rebound.

DXY - 4H Dollar Index more FallTechnical Perspective:
TVC:DXY experienced two significant bullish legs in October and November on the daily time frame. However, the index started to fall sharply at the end of November, and this bearish momentum remains strong.
On the 4H chart, DXY reached a key resistance zone and faced a significant rejection with notable bearish momentum, signaling the continuation of the downtrend.
The current movement indicates a high likelihood of further declines, potentially to the bottom of the trading range. Many USD pairs are at critical support or resistance levels, and expected reactions from these zones could amplify downward pressure on the DXY, making it increasingly vulnerable to a substantial fall.
Fundamental Perspective:
In December 2024, the bearish sentiment surrounding the DXY is driven by key fundamental factors. The Federal Reserve is anticipated to implement another 25 basis point interest rate cut during its December 18 meeting, following earlier cuts in September and November. This dovish policy reflects the Fed’s commitment to supporting economic growth amidst a slightly cooling labor market and growing global uncertainties.
Adding to the pressure, inflation data showed a 2.7% year-over-year increase in November, a slight uptick from 2.6% in October. Despite this, the Fed remains focused on easing monetary conditions to mitigate recession risks. Additionally, the recent U.S. presidential election has raised prospects of fiscal policy changes, including proposed tax cuts and potential tariff adjustments, which contribute to market uncertainty and weigh on the dollar.
These fundamental shifts align with the bearish technical setup, suggesting that the DXY’s downtrend is likely to persist in the near term. Keep an eye on upcoming Fed announcements and inflation data for further confirmation of this trajectory.
DOLLAR DROPPING?This week, I anticipate the DXY to retrace before continuing its recent bearish trend. Since reaching the weekly supply level, the price has consistently formed lower lows and lower highs. This bearish momentum aligns with the bullish trends seen in pairs like GBP/USD and EUR/USD, which I use as additional confluence.
I’ll be watching for the price to retrace to around 106.400, a key area for potential sell opportunities on the dollar. This level aligns well with points of interest (POIs) in my other forex pairs, adding further confidence to this setup.
Note: As we approach the final month of the quarter and year, market conditions may become less predictable due to lower volume. Stay alert, but manage expectations accordingly.
Stay vigilant, and trade safe!
What about DXY?I haven't updated my DXY analysis for a while. So let's dust it off.
The last update was in September when the atmosphere was changing in a way that we couldn't predict the US Election clearly and for a short period, the market thought the results wouldn't be as it is today. That was why I was a bit bearish on DXY. By getting closer to Election Day the clouds were going away and it got easier for the market to see the outcome. So, it strengthened the dollar while weakening the Gold as we expected the geopolitical tensions to cool off.
What's next?
For now, I see the 10-year bond yield can show a bit more weakness to come just below 3.99%. Then after that, we should update our analysis and see what comes next. But I think ~4% is low for now and after that, I like to see a jump back up. In this short-term correction DXY would follow the 10-year bond yield and most probably come into the range of 104 to 105. That's also can be a small driver for Gold to go higher a bit.
Time for the Dollar to be realisticWith the news of Donald Trump being the united states new president we have seen nothing but euphoric bullish price action of the dollar. However, I believe that it is finally time for that to come to an end and for the dollar to continue in it's gradual and slow demise.
I believe the dollar push to the upside was nothing but a retracement on the HTF and with the bitcoin becoming more of a powerhouse we will continue to see the dollar lose its value.
This is supported through my analysis as we can see the dollar reacting from the weekly imbalance and creating LL and LH and Breaking structure to the downside. I believe that this will continue this week and be looking to sell after price takes the ASH and forms Wyckoff in my 3H supply.
My only hesitation is that my other pairs that go against the dollar I am also predicting to sell, Although we haven't seen the usual correlation between the pairs they normally have i am still cautious but my analysis remains ever true. If the dollar decides to push further up it will simply be filling the remainder of the Imbalance in order to have a proper reaction from the weekly supply.
USD Index // Preparation for the ExpansionThe Dollar Index is bearish on the daily, within the valid daily countertrend.
The H4 long countertrend is also valid, and since in this trend, there is no space to trade, I'm waiting for the market to turn south in the direction of the daily short trend.
My trigger is at the H4 breakout. Once this level is broken, I'm in to ride the wave down to the daily breakout (blue) and maybe to the weekly breakout (purple).
The correction fibo is drawn with thin black dashed lines, and 38.2 is pretty much in line with the daily breakout, therefore, a nice target.
Going for the correction fibo 50 is a bit more risky, and there is the weekly breakout along the way.
Stay Patient, Stay Disciplined!
🏄🏼♂️
And feel free to express your opinion in the comments! 🙂
A Brief 57-Year History of the DollarThe year 1971, when the Bretton Woods system ended, marked a period where the dollar's value followed a volatile trajectory of ups and downs—until 2008.
The global financial crisis was another turning point, and since then, the dollar has been steadily appreciating. This trend is expected to continue, at least until another significant pivot point emerges.
Will such a critical turning point occur during Trump’s second term? That remains to be seen. However, one thing is clear: the dollar seems poised to keep gaining value.

Analysis of the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY)Technical Analysis
Monthly Chart:
Since January 2023, the DXY has been moving within a range. The upper boundary of this range was marked by the 107.348 level, which has now been cleared. This breach of the previous high suggests that liquidity above the range has been taken, signaling the potential for a downside move. Historically, such liquidity grabs often precede significant reversals, aligning with the current bearish setup.
Daily Chart:
On the daily timeframe, the DXY displayed a sharp decline after taking out its last significant high. This aggressive sell-off has formed a strong bearish pattern, indicating a potential continuation to the downside. The presence of strong bearish momentum highlights sellers' dominance in the current market conditions, reinforcing the bearish outlook initiated by the liquidity grab on the monthly chart.
Price Targets:
Short-Term Target: A move toward 104.636 is expected as the DXY continues its bearish momentum, which aligns with immediate support and prior structural lows.
Medium-to-Long-Term Target: If the bearish trajectory persists, the DXY could reach the 101.917 level, which aligns with a significant support zone from previous price action. This target reflects the potential for extended downside in a broader bearish scenario.
Fundamental Analysis
Federal Reserve and Interest Rates:
Recent minutes from the Federal Reserve highlight concerns about continuing rate cuts due to the potential risks they pose to inflation. The Fed has signaled that further rate reductions would only be considered if both the labor market weakens and inflation continues to decline. However, these two factors are closely intertwined.
Labor Market Conditions:
Historically, the months of November and December exhibit strong employment trends due to holiday hiring. This seasonality reduces the likelihood of immediate rate cuts, as a robust labor market typically does not align with the conditions necessary for easing monetary policy.
Inflation Outlook:
For the Fed to proceed with aggressive rate cuts, inflation figures would need to remain stable or show further declines. If unemployment rises and inflation remains under control, the Fed may have room for another round of cuts. Such a scenario would support a long-term bearish outlook for the DXY, as lower interest rates reduce demand for the U.S. dollar.
Summary and Outlook
Technically, the DXY is positioned for further downside following the liquidity grab above the 107.348 level and the subsequent bearish pattern on the daily chart. Fundamentally, while seasonal strength in the labor market may delay immediate bearish moves, the broader macroeconomic context suggests that eventual rate cuts are likely.
Key factors to monitor include:
Unemployment data in the coming months.
Inflation trends to confirm stability or further declines.
Any changes in the Fed’s tone regarding rate policy.
Price Expectations:
In the short term, we could see the DXY reach 104.636, reflecting a retracement toward a key support zone.
In the medium to long term, the DXY is likely to target 101.917, aligning with major support from prior price structures and further confirming the bearish outlook.
If unemployment begins to rise and inflation remains under control, these targets become even more probable, reinforcing the alignment between technical and fundamental factors.
Dollar Currency Index DXY Predicts Massive Crypto Bull RunHello, Skyrexians!
In crypto trading and investment it's vital to not only analyze some particular assets, but also macro charts. We have already considered the Bitcoin Dominance chart to predict potential altseason in this article . Today we have even more important asset, the TVC:DXY , which reflects in which type of assets investors are about to be in. When crisis happens investors are scared, selling risky assets and buy dollar. In the worthy times investor are greedy to risky assets and dollar currency index decreases. Today we will try to explain why DXY is about to crush giving liquidity to risky assets like our favorite crypto.
Let's take a look at the monthly time frame. It looks like DXY has ended the super cycle of any degree and now is printing correction. Waves A and B are likely to be finished already in this correction. The most impulsive wave C is incoming soon. To measure the targets we can use the Fibonacci retracement for the entire Elliott Waves cycle. Area between 0.5 and 0.61 is going to be our target. That's why we are waiting DXY between 88 and 93.
Inside this area we plan to wait for the green dot on Bullish/Bearish Reversal Bar Indicator which works great in the past. Important note here is that you have to disable MFI filter on this indicator to work correctly on DXY. As always, alerts from this indicator are automatically replicated on my accounts. You can find the information in our article on TradingView.

Dollar Index (DXY) Analysis - A Deeper Correction Approaching?Dollar Index (DXY) Analysis - Is a Deeper Correction Approaching?
Since September 2024, the Dollar Index (DXY) has risen significantly, gaining 8.2%, marking its highest appreciation in months. This upward momentum has been fueled by positive economic indicators, increasing demand for dollars. Recently, the DXY reached the 107.00 mark, its highest resistance level since 2022. However, after hitting this point, the DXY exhibited a false breakout, suggesting potential buyer fatigue.
Currently, the price has dipped slightly to 105.93, with the possibility of further retracement towards the 38.2% Fibonacci level at 104.92 before continuing its upward trend.
Buying Potential
If the price returns to the range between 104.92 (38.2% Fibonacci) and 103.96 (50% Fibonacci) and shows a bullish reversal, it could indicate a continuation of the upward movement, presenting a buying opportunity. Key confluence points for the DXY include:
Horizontal support around 104.92, aligning with the Fibonacci retracement.
The overall upward trend since September.
The 50-period moving average on the daily chart, which may coincide with this support.
These factors suggest that if the price reaches the support zone, buyers could re-enter, pushing the price back towards recent highs around 106.97, potentially targeting 108.00.
Potential Targets
First Target: Retest the high at 107.00.
Secondary Target: Extend to 109.30, contingent on a confirmed breakout.
Alternative Bearish Scenario
If the price fails to hold at 104.92 and drops below the 50% retracement at 103.96, the index may decline further. In this scenario, the next significant support is at 102.99, aligning with the 61.8% Fibonacci retracement. This decline would indicate a deeper correction while still within a generally bullish framework.
However, breaching this level could negate the short-term bullish outlook and push the index down to 100.00, a key psychological support level.
Warning Signs for a Possible Sell Opportunity
A daily close below 103.96, suggesting weakening buyer support.
A sustained drop below 102.99, indicating a shift in the prevailing trend.
Summary
The DXY currently exhibits a predominantly bullish structure but is undergoing a natural correction after hitting a crucial resistance level. The area between 104.92 and 103.96 presents a potential buying opportunity, provided there are clear signs of a price reversal. Monitoring the specified support levels is crucial, as significant breaches could undermine the bullish scenario and lead to deeper declines.

Silver 4hr Timeframe Silver has risen by 3.90% in just over a day. I anticipate a reaction around the 30.7399–30.8383 zone due to multiple confluences, including a reversal point, a 4-hour order block, the 0.618 Fibonacci level, an ascending trendline from November 13th, and structural factors. This area presents a potential sell opportunity, with a target drop to the 30.2753 level.
Meanwhile, gold is approaching my area of interest, which appears to be another promising sell setup. If both gold and silver align as sell opportunities, it’s a strong indication of market synchronization, increasing the likelihood of this scenario playing out.

Dollar Index (DXY): Time to Fill the Gap?!
I guess you saw this gap down that was formed this night on Dollar Index.
Analysing a price action today, it looks like the market is preparing to fill it.
I see a nice bearish trap and inducement followed by a bullish imbalance
on an hourly.
I think that the index will go up to the gap opening level soon.
